Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients:

4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 small onion, thinly sliced


Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the milk and cook until the sauce thickens.

Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth.

Layer half of the sliced potatoes and onions in the baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the top. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, onions, and sauce.

Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 20–25 minutes until golden brown and tender.

Let rest for a few minutes before serving warm.
