Greek Chicken Meatballs
Juicy chicken meatballs flavored with garlic, lemon, feta, and herbs. Great with tzatziki, rice, or pita.
Ingredients
For the Meatballs
- 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup crumbled Feta
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if baking)
For Serving (Optional)
- Tzatziki
- Warm pita bread
- Cucumber and tomato salad
- Rice or roasted potatoes
Instructions
Oven Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients.
- Mix gently until just combined.
- Form into 18–20 meatballs (about 1½ inches / 4 cm each).
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and lightly brush with olive oil.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Skillet Method
- Heat 1–2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook meatballs for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
Quick Tzatziki Sauce
Mix together:
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- ½ cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp chopped dill
- Salt to taste
Tips
- Ground chicken can be sticky; lightly wet your hands when shaping the meatballs.
- For extra flavor, add 2 tbsp finely chopped red onion.
- These meatballs freeze well for up to 3 months.
Yield: 18–20 meatballs (about 4 servings).
