For the dough (base):
- 250 g flour
- 100 g sugar
- 1 egg
- 125 g butter (soft)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
For the poppy seed filling:
- 200 g ground poppy seeds
- 500 ml milk
- 80โ100 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
- 40 g semolina (or cornstarch)
- 50 g butter
Optional topping (crumbs / Streusel):
- 150 g flour
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g butter
๐ฉโ๐ณ Instructions
1. Prepare the dough
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add butter and egg, then knead into a smooth dough.
- Press into a greased baking pan (about 24โ26 cm).
- Chill in the fridge for ~20 minutes.
2. Make the poppy seed filling
- Heat milk, sugar, vanilla, and butter in a saucepan.
- Stir in the poppy seeds.
- Add semolina (or cornstarch) and cook until thickened.
- Let it cool slightly.
3. Optional streusel topping
- Mix flour, sugar, and butter with your fingers until crumbly.
4. Assemble
- Spread the poppy seed filling evenly over the dough.
- Add streusel on top (optional but recommended).
5. Bake
- Bake at 180ยฐC for about 35โ40 minutes until golden.
