Fried Bologna Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick-cut bologna
  • 4 slices white bread
  • 2 slices American or cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter or bacon grease
  • Yellow mustard or mayonnaise (optional)


Instructions

  1. Heat butter or bacon grease in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cut a small slit in the edge of each bologna slice to prevent curling.
  3. Place bologna slices in the hot skillet and fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side until browned and slightly crispy on the edges.
  4. Toast the bread lightly in the same skillet if desired.
  5. Assemble the sandwich by placing fried bologna on bread, adding cheese if using, and spreading mustard or mayonnaise to taste.
  6. Serve hot for a classic Southern comfort sandwich.
