Better than anything Bars

made these for a church potluck last month and had three people literally chase me down in the parking lot for the recipe. My sister-in-law still texts me about them.
The name isn’t an exaggeration. These bars are dangerously good—fudgy chocolate cake base, rivers of caramel soaking into every bite, sweetened condensed milk making everything impossibly rich, and that crunchy toffee-chocolate topping that you can’t stop picking at. I caught my husband eating them cold straight from the fridge at midnight.
They come together so fast it feels like cheating, but they taste like you spent all day in the kitchen. The hardest part is waiting for them to cool.
**INGREDIENTS:**
• 1 box chocolate cake mix
• ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
• 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
• 1 jar (12 oz) caramel sauce
• 1 cup crushed toffee bits
• 1 cup chocolate chips
**INSTRUCTIONS:**
Mix the cake mix and melted butter until crumbly. Press half into a greased 9×13 pan, saving the rest.
Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes until just set.
Pull it out and immediately pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the warm crust. Drizzle the caramel sauce over that—it’ll pool and soak in beautifully.
Crumble the remaining cake mixture over the top. Sprinkle with toffee bits and chocolate chips.
Bake another 20–25 minutes until the edges are bubbling and the top is golden.
Let them cool completely before cutting. I know it’s hard. The caramel needs time to set or they’ll be a gooey mess—a delicious gooey mess, but still.
Cut into squares and watch them disappear.
Fair warning: someone will ask if you made them from scratch. Just smile and say it’s a family secret.
