Fried Chicken and Waffles

Ingredients:

For the Chicken:
4 boneless chicken thighs or breasts
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable oil for frying

For the Waffles:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups milk
1/3 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Serving:
Butter
Maple syrup

Instructions:

Place the chicken in a bowl with the buttermilk and let marinate for at least 1 hour.

In another bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and coat well in the seasoned flour mixture.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken for about 6–8 minutes per side until golden brown, crispy, and fully cooked. Remove and drain on paper towels.

For the waffles, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and stir until smooth.

Pour the batter into a preheated waffle iron and cook according to the waffle maker instructions until golden brown.

Serve the fried chicken over warm waffles with butter and maple syrup drizzled on top.
