🥩 Cowboy Steak with Garlic Butter
Ingredients:
-
1 bone-in ribeye steak (1.5–2 inches thick)
-
Salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, to taste
-
1 tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)
-
½ cup unsalted butter
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
-
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
-
Prep the steak: Season the cowboy steak generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Let it sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking for even heat distribution.
-
Preheat grill or skillet: Heat your grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil if using a skillet.
-
Sear the steak: Once hot, place the steak on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4–5 minutes per side to form a golden-brown crust.
-
Finish cooking: Reduce the heat to medium and cook another 5–7 minutes, depending on your preferred doneness:
-
130°F (54°C) – Medium-rare
-
140°F (60°C) – Medium
-
150°F (66°C) – Medium-well
-
-
Make the garlic butter: While the steak cooks, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes, until fragrant (don’t brown the garlic). Stir in parsley and a pinch of salt.
-
Rest and serve: Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Drizzle the warm garlic butter over the steak, letting it soak in.
-
Serve with sides: Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
Tip:
For an extra-rich finish, spoon the melted butter from the pan over the steak just before serving.
