Cowboy Steak with Garlic Butter

🥩 Cowboy Steak with Garlic Butter

Ingredients:

  • 1 bone-in ribeye steak (1.5–2 inches thick)

  • Salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, to taste

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)

  • ½ cup unsalted butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prep the steak: Season the cowboy steak generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Let it sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking for even heat distribution.

  2. Preheat grill or skillet: Heat your grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil if using a skillet.

  3. Sear the steak: Once hot, place the steak on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4–5 minutes per side to form a golden-brown crust.

  4. Finish cooking: Reduce the heat to medium and cook another 5–7 minutes, depending on your preferred doneness:

    • 130°F (54°C) – Medium-rare

    • 140°F (60°C) – Medium

    • 150°F (66°C) – Medium-well

  5. Make the garlic butter: While the steak cooks, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes, until fragrant (don’t brown the garlic). Stir in parsley and a pinch of salt.

  6. Rest and serve: Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Drizzle the warm garlic butter over the steak, letting it soak in.

  7. Serve with sides: Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Tip:
For an extra-rich finish, spoon the melted butter from the pan over the steak just before serving.
