Step-by-step guide to removing dry erase marker from UGG suede:
1. Stop using rubbing alcohol.
Alcohol can dry out suede and sometimes set the stain deeper. Don’t worry — no permanent damage has been done, but let’s switch methods.
Method 1: White vinegar (safest for suede)
This is usually the most effective and gentle method.
You’ll need:
White vinegar
A clean microfibre cloth
A suede brush (or soft toothbrush).
How to do it:
Lightly dampen a microfibre cloth with white vinegar (do not soak).
Gently dab the marker stain – don’t rub.
Leave to air dry completely.
Once dry, lightly brush the suede to restore its texture.
Repeat 2–3 times if needed.
Method 2: Suede eraser/magic eraser (very effective but gentle!).
Option A: suede cleaning eraser
Great for removing marker from suede.
Rub lightly back and forth until the stain lifts.
Option B: Magic Eraser (melamine sponge).
Dampen slightly.
Use light strokes only.
Don’t overdo it, or it could lighten the suede.
Method 3: UGG cleaner and conditioner.
If you have it or can get hold of some, the official UGG cleaner is effective at removing stains like this.
Avoid using:
Bleach
Harsh soaps
Acetone or nail polish remover.
Too much water
All of these can permanently damage the suede.
