Ingredients
-
1 (14 oz) package Little Smokies
-
1 lb bacon, cut into thirds
-
1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
Optional add-ins:
-
¼ tsp cayenne (for heat)
-
1–2 tbsp maple syrup
-
½ tsp smoked paprika
-
Instructions
1. Prep
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top (helps bacon crisp).
If no rack, just foil the pan well—there will be caramelized sugar.
2. Wrap the sausages
-
Wrap each Little Smokie with a piece of bacon.
-
Place seam-side down on the rack or pan.
3. Add the brown sugar coat
-
Sprinkle brown sugar generously over all the bacon-wrapped smokies.
-
Lightly sprinkle black pepper (and optional cayenne or paprika).
4. Bake
-
Bake 25–35 minutes, or until bacon is crisp and sugar is melted and caramelized.
-
For extra crispy edges, broil the last 1–2 minutes.
5. Serve
-
Let cool 5 minutes (the sugar gets VERY hot).
-
Serve warm with toothpicks, if desired.
