Brown sugar caramel sauce

I made this last Sunday afternoon and my husband walked into the kitchen, stopped mid-step, and just said “what is that smell?” in the best way possible. That buttery, deep caramel aroma filling the whole house? Unmatched.
This brown sugar caramel sauce is dangerously good. Like, hide-the-jar-in-the-back-of-the-fridge good. I drizzled it over vanilla ice cream that night and we both went back for seconds with zero shame.
The brown sugar gives it this deeper, almost molasses-like richness that regular caramel just doesn’t have. It’s glossy, velvety, and clings to everything in the most beautiful way. I’ve been putting it on pancakes, stirring it into coffee, and honestly… eating it straight off the spoon when no one’s looking.
**INGREDIENTS:**
• ½ cup salted butter
• 1 cup packed light brown sugar
• ¾ cup heavy cream
**INSTRUCTIONS:**
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it starts to bubble gently.
Stir in the brown sugar and let it dissolve completely, stirring constantly for about 2 minutes until it’s smooth and bubbling.
Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. The mixture will bubble up dramatically—this is normal, just keep stirring.
Let it simmer for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly and turns a rich golden amber color.
Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. It’ll thicken more as it cools.
Pour into a jar and store in the fridge. It keeps for about 2 weeks, but honestly, it never lasts that long here.
Warm it up gently before using if it gets too thick in the fridge. Would you drizzle this over everything or try to show some self-control?
