Simple and Delicious Banycski

Soft, fluffy, and lightly crispy, banycski are easy homemade yeast cakes perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 4–4.5 cups flour
  • 50 g butter + a little oil

Optional: ricotta and parsley
Topping: egg yolk + milk or oil

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes.
  2. Add salt, oil, and flour gradually to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead 5–7 minutes, then cover and let rise 1 hour.
  4. Roll dough and cut into circles. Add filling if desired.
  5. Let rise again 20–30 minutes.
  6. Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C for 15–20 minutes.
  7. Brush with melted butter after baking.

Tips
Use lukewarm liquids and keep the dough soft for best texture.
