One-Skillet Spicy Honey BBQ Sausage & Pasta .
Ingredients:
- 12 oz smoked sausage, sliced into coins
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (preferably spicy)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 8 oz penne or rotini pasta
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley (for garnish)
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté diced onion until soft, about 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for 1 minute.
Stir in honey and BBQ sauce, mixing well to coat the onions. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Add the heavy cream, chicken broth, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Add the uncooked pasta directly to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot straight from the skillet.
