Crumbed Sausage & Creamy Cheese Wontons – Full Recipe

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 450g (1 lb) ground sausage (any type you like)

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 1 small red bell pepper, finely diced

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt to taste

For assembling:

  • 30–40 wonton wrappers

  • Non-stick spray or a little oil

  • Optional: extra black pepper for sprinkling

Instructions

1. Cook the sausage mix

  1. In a pan over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned.

  2. Add the onion + bell pepper and sauté until soft.

  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2. Make the creamy filling

In a large bowl, mix together:

  • Cooked sausage mixture

  • Cream cheese

  • Mozzarella

  • Cheddar

  • Garlic powder

  • Onion powder

  • Paprika

  • Black pepper + salt

Stir until everything is creamy and evenly combined.

3. Assemble the wonton cups

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C / 375°F.

  2. Lightly grease a muffin tin.

  3. Press one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup (let the corners stick up like the picture).

  4. Spoon 1 tablespoon of the sausage-cheese filling into each wonton.

  5. Add a small sprinkle of cheese on top if you like.

4. Bake

Bake for 10–12 minutes or until:

  • The edges are golden and crispy

  • The filling is hot and bubbly

Let cool slightly before removing from the pan.

Serve

Serve warm with:

  • Sweet chili sauce

  • Ranch dip

  • Garlic mayo

  • Honey mustard
