A Tasty Way to Jazz Up Grilled Cheese

🧺 Ingredients:

  • 2 slices good sandwich bread (white, sourdough, or wheat — whatever you’ve got)

  • 2 tablespoons softened butter or mayonnaise

  • 2–3 slices cheese (American, cheddar, or a mix — go with what melts nice and gooey!)

  • Now here’s where the jazz comes in:

    • 1 tablespoon pepper jelly or

    • 2 slices crispy bacon or

    • A few thin apple slices or

    • A sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning

(Pick one or mix and match — you can’t go wrong!)

🥣 Instructions:

  1. Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  2. Butter one side of each bread slice (or spread mayo for that golden crust Brenda swears by).

  3. Assemble your sandwich:

    • Place one slice, butter-side down, in the skillet.

    • Layer your cheese and your “jazz-up” ingredient of choice.

    • Top with the second bread slice, butter-side up.

  4. Grill slowly until golden brown on each side and the cheese is melted — about 3–4 minutes per side.

  5. Slice and serve warm, maybe with a bowl of tomato soup or a little sweet tea on the side.
