My daughter walked into the kitchen last Sunday and asked if we could make “something fun” with the apples sitting on the counter. I wasn’t sure what she meant until she said, “Like… apple fries or something?” And honestly? Best idea she’s ever had.
These crispy little apple fries came out of the air fryer golden, crunchy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, coated in cinnamon sugar that stuck to our fingers. We ate them straight off the plate, still warm, dipping them in caramel sauce we had leftover from fall. They disappeared so fast I had to make a second batch before dinner was even ready.
They taste like fair food but without leaving the house. That perfect mix of sweet, spiced, and just a little bit indulgent.
**INGREDIENTS:**
• 2 Granny Smith apples
• ½ cup all-purpose flour
• ½ cup powdered sugar
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
• ½ teaspoon ground cloves
• Cooking spray
**INSTRUCTIONS:**
1. Peel the apples and slice them into thick fry-shaped sticks, about ½ inch wide.
2. In a shallow bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
3. Place the flour in a separate bowl. Toss the apple sticks in the flour until lightly coated, shaking off any excess.
4. Spray the apple fries lightly with cooking spray on all sides so the cinnamon sugar sticks.
5. Roll each apple fry in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
6. Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Don’t overcrowd—work in batches if needed.
7. Air fry at 375°F for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they’re golden and crispy on the edges.
8. Let them cool for just a minute, then serve warm with caramel sauce, whipped cream, or even a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
They’re sweet, they’re crispy, they’re ridiculously easy. And if you’ve got kids? They’ll think you’re the coolest parent ever.
Would you dip these in caramel or eat them plain?
