🤠John Wayne Casserole
Ingredients
Crust

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (or crescent roll dough)

2 tbsp butter, melted
Meat Layer

1 lb ground beef
-
1 small onion, diced
-
1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade)

½ cup water
Topping
-
1 cup sour cream
-
½ cup mayonnaise
-
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
-
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
-
1 small can diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained (Rotel)

Optional: sliced jalapeños or bell peppers
Instructions

Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. -
Prepare the Crust
Press biscuit dough evenly into the bottom of the dish. Brush with melted butter.
Bake for 8–10 minutes until just set (not fully browned). -
Cook the Beef
In a skillet, brown ground beef with onion. Drain excess fat.
Stir in taco seasoning and water; simmer 3–5 minutes until thickened. -
Make the Creamy Layer
In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, and half of the shredded cheeses. -
Assemble

Spread seasoned beef over the crust

Spoon diced tomatoes (and peppers, if using) evenly on top

Spread creamy cheese mixture over everything

Sprinkle remaining cheese on top

Bake
Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until bubbly and golden. -
Rest & Serve
Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.
