Crispy Air Fryer Potato Slices
These quick and crispy potato slices are the perfect snack or side dish—ready in under 20 minutes with just a few ingredients. They’re like a cross between potato chips and roasted potatoes!
Ingredients
· 2 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold for creamier texture)
· 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
· ½ tsp garlic powder
· ½ tsp paprika (optional, for color and mild smokiness)
· Salt and black pepper to taste
· Cooking spray (optional)
· Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the potatoes:
· Scrub potatoes clean (peel if desired, but leaving skin on adds texture).
· Slice into ¼-inch thick rounds using a sharp knife or mandoline for even cooking.
· Place slices in a bowl of cold water for 10 minutes to remove excess starch (this helps them crisp up). Pat very dry with a towel. - Season:
· In a bowl, toss dried potato slices with oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated. - Air fry:
· Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 2–3 minutes if your model recommends it.
· Arrange potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket—don’t overcrowd (work in batches if needed). Lightly spray with cooking spray for extra crispness if desired.
· Air fry for 12–16 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy at the edges. - Serve:
· Season with an extra pinch of salt if needed. Garnish with fresh herbs.
· Enjoy immediately—they’re best hot and crispy!
Flavor Variations
· Loaded potato slices: After cooking, top with shredded cheddar, crumbled bacon, and a dollop of sour cream.
· Herb & Parmesan: Toss with dried Italian herbs before air frying, then sprinkle with grated Parmesan right after cooking.
· Spicy version: Add ¼ tsp cayenne or chili powder to the seasoning mix.
Pro Tips
· Dry well: The key to crispiness is removing all moisture before air frying.
· Even slicing: Use a mandoline or food slicer for uniform thickness and even cooking.
· Don’t skip preheating: A hot air fryer helps start the crisping process immediately.
· Batching: If making a large amount, keep cooked slices warm in a 200°F (95°C) oven while finishing batches.
Great as a side with burgers, steak, or eggs—or just on their own with your favorite dipping sauce (try fry sauce, garlic aioli, or ketchup)!
