Ingredients
· 1 lb (450g) ground beef (85% lean works well)
· 1 medium onion, finely chopped
· 2 cloves garlic, minced
· 1 bell pepper, diced (any color)
· 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning OR 2 tbsp homemade blend
· ½ cup water
· 8 medium flour tortillas (or corn tortillas for gluten-free)
· 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)
· Optional toppings: salsa, sour cream, lettuce, diced tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, jalapeños
Instructions
- Cook the filling:
· In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spoon (5–7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
· Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté until softened (about 5 minutes).
· Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat. - Warm tortillas:
· Briefly heat tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel for 20–30 seconds to make them pliable. - Assemble wraps:
· Place a tortilla on a plate. Spoon about ⅓ cup of the beef mixture down the center.
· Sprinkle with cheese and add any desired fresh toppings.
· Fold the sides over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom to form a wrap. - Serve:
· Enjoy immediately, or wrap in foil for a portable meal.
· For a crispier finish, heat the assembled wraps in a skillet over medium heat for 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
Tips for Success
· Make ahead: Store the filling separately for up to 3 days. Assemble wraps just before eating to prevent sogginess.
· Extra flavor: Add a can of drained black beans or corn to the beef mixture.
· Lighter option: Use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
· Spice level: Adjust by using mild or hot taco seasoning and adding chopped jalapeños.
Enjoy your delicious, customizable wraps! They’re perfect for dinner, lunchboxes, or even a crowd-pleasing party snack.
