Dolly Parton’s five-ingredient casserole

Dolly Parton’s five-ingredient casserole

This isn’t the first Dolly Parton recipe that we’ve tried and loved, and it probably won’t be the last! It turns out that the Queen of Country is not only an accomplished songwriter, singer, actress and philanthropist, but also an incredible cook. This 5-Ingredient Casserole is proof of that. It’s simple yet the kind of creamy, comforting casserole you can turn to any day of the week when you need a reliable, crowd-pleasing dinner option. Dolly truly does it all!

Ingredients:

– 3 cups of cooked, shredded chicken
– 1 x 10.5 oz can of cream of chicken soup
– 1 cup of sour cream
– 1.5 cups of grated cheddar cheese
– 1 packet of butter crackers (such as Ritz), crushed

How do you make Dolly Parton’s five-ingredient casserole?

I don’t think I’ve ever made a casserole this easy before. If you can stir and put a dish in the oven, then you can make this one.

First, prepare the chicken. You need three cups of chicken, which is roughly what you get from a rotisserie chicken. Otherwise, that’s about 450 g of boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Either way, it’s a great way to use up leftovers!

Shred the chicken, then mix it with the cream of chicken soup and sour cream. Spread the mixture into the bottom of a small baking dish and top with half of the cheese.

As you probably guessed, the rest of the chicken mixture goes on top of that, followed by the remaining cheese. And then? Well, it’s those crackers, crushed into crumbs and sprinkled over the top.

After 30 minutes in the oven, the dish will be bubbling with melted cheese and topped with a crisp, golden, crumbly crust. It goes well with rice or pasta, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you could try mixing some egg noodles into the bake.
