Moist Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
For the cake:
• 2 eggs (at room temperature)
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup milk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
• 1 packet vanilla extract
• 1 packet baking powder
• 1.5 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon hot water or hot milk (the secret to moistness
)
For soaking (highly recommended):
• 1 teaspoon milk
For the topping (chocolate sauce):
• 1 cup milk
• 1 packet chocolate sauce
or
• 80 g dark chocolate + 1/2 cup cream

Eggs & sugar
Beat the eggs and sugar until light in color.
Liquids
Add the milk and liquid oil and mix.
Add cocoa and vanilla.
Dry ingredients
Sift in flour and baking powder, mix with a spatula.
Moist touch
Finally, add hot water/milk and mix.
The batter will be runny, this is normal.
Baking
Pour into a greased 24–26 cm pan.
Bake in a preheated 170°C oven for 30–35 minutes.
(A toothpick should come out slightly moist)
Soaking
Pour 1 cup of milk over the hot cake as it comes out of the oven.
Sauce
Prepare the chocolate sauce and pour it over the cake while it’s still warm.

Tips
Hot water/milk never makes the cake dry.
Pouring the sauce over the cake while it’s warm allows it to absorb the moisture.
The flavor improves even more the next day
