For the bread batter

1½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

⅓ cup milk (or buttermilk)

1 tsp vanilla extract
For the apple layer

2 cups peeled, finely chopped apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Granny Smith)

2 tbsp brown sugar
-
1 tsp cinnamon
Optional streusel topping

2 tbsp butter, melted
-
¼ cup flour
-
¼ cup brown sugar
-
½ tsp cinnamon
🍳 Instructions
1. Preheat & prepare pan
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment if desired.
2. Mix the apple filling
In a small bowl, combine chopped apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
3. Make the batter

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time.

Add milk and vanilla.

Slowly fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
4. Layer the loaf

Add half the batter to the pan

Spread half the apple mixture
-
Add remaining batter
-
Top with remaining apples
5. Add streusel (optional)
Mix all streusel ingredients together until crumbly and sprinkle over the top.
6. Bake
Bake 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
If top browns too quickly, tent with foil.
7. Cool
Let cool in the pan 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool fully.
